Father’s Day is a different day for me now. My dad is gone, and with him went the chance to ever hand him a gift like this.
The ones we lose live on in the stories we keep telling. Love, once given, never dies.
What he taught me
He never lectured me about discipline. He simply lived it. That is where Born of Discipline began: not in anything he said, but in everything he did.
Why now
So if your father, stepdad, the man who stepped up, or your grandfather is still here, don’t wait. Most of us only understand what our fathers gave us once it’s already too late to thank them.
Don’t wait to tell someone you love them. There is no later promised to any of us.
